Get sponsored to run the Mansfield Half Marathon or Fun Run for Marie Curie Cancer Care

Marie Curie Cancer Care needs you to help raise valuable funds to continue the work of the Marie Curie nurses in your area.  By running the Mansfield Half Marathon or Fun Run for Marie Curie, you can raise money through sponsorship while also achieving your own personal goal.

2003 runner Kevyn Webb quoted, "The Mansfield Half Marathon in 2003 was the first half marathon that I have ever run and it was a great personal goal for me.  In 2003 I lost a lot of weight and running the race was a culmination of all my efforts and a way of proving to myself that I was capable of this physical challenge.  I also wanted to make it even more special by raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.  Several members of my family have been affected by cancer and so raising money to support cancer nursing is close to my heart.  I raised £176.00 and had a fabulous time in the process, the atmosphere at the race was brilliant!"

We rely very heavily on voluntary donations to support our own fundraising efforts.  Without the support of people such as you, we simply could not continue our vital work with people suffering with cancer.

Together we can make a difference to the lives of people with cancer and their families.

What’s great about Marie Curie Cancer Care?

Marie Curie Cancer Care is dedicated to the care of people affected by cancer and the enhancement of their quality of life, through its caring services, cancer research and education.  It is the only UK cancer charity which combines cancer care through home nursing with research.  The charity provides care for today and hope for tomorrow.

What do Marie Curie Nurses Do?

Marie Curie Nurses provide a unique service for people with cancer and their families.  They provide hands-on practical care to patients with respite and psychological support for carers at any time during the day and night.

A Marie Curie nurse provides specific care, such as giving medications and treatments and monitoring their effectiveness.  Because the Marie Curie nurse is in the home for several hours at a time, they can give the patient’s regular carer (usually family members) the chance to take a break from caring to rest, go shopping, keep in touch with the outside world, or simply get a good night’s sleep.  Carers also benefit from the opportunity to discuss their worries and fears with someone who has time to listen.

The service is provided free of charge to the patient and their carer, 365 days of the year and 24 hours a day
